The Cooking Shed - Guacamole Edition

Up at our country place, we have a small log cabin at the top of a steep hill. At the bottom of the hill, on the lakefront, we have a little room we call the Lodge. At this point, we spend almost all of our time in the Lodge because we are planning to redesign the log cabin into a more permanent home.  This summer, we haven't even turned the water on to the cabin.  So we've improvised!

Down at the lakefront, next to the Lodge, we have a shed that we have hooked up with some unusual amenities.  We ran electricity to it but don't have plumbing, so my husband installed a portable sink that runs on bottled water. We also have a full refrigerator, deep fryer, and microwave!  Combined with a charcoal grill, one filet knife, a set of measuring spoons, a recently acquired grater, and a little imagination, we are able to improvise and cook up just about anything.

This past weekend, I was craving guacamole, so I decided to give it a try.  On Pinterest, (follow me there - username alibaba) I recently saw a picture of a grilled avocado.  If there was a recipe, I didn't pay much attention to it; this is what I tried:

2 avocados, peeled and halved
1 thin slice of red onion, chopped
1 small tomato, chopped
2 small handfuls of cilantro, chopped
1 clove of garlic, grated
juice of 1 lime

We were already grilling Hoisin and Bourbon Glazed Pork Tenderloin and corn on the cob, so we threw the avocado halves on the grill for a few minutes to give it an added flavor of the hickory.  Then we mushed the avocados with our hands and stirred in the rest of the ingredients.  The crowd review was:  "I'd pay money in a restaurant for this."
